Literature Text

Your eyes are open
Yet you fail to see

You've got living skin
Yet mechanical beneath

Your protective shield
You wear it strong

The way it gleams
Through a winter long

On a long voyage
Through a star-filled realm

Can you not see
The heaven in hell?
This poem is a riddle. Look at all the lines apart from the last one. What do they have in common? What are they all describing? Hint: think famous movie directors...
update:

Ok, because nobody seems to be getting the riddle, here's the answer:
Each line, except for the last one, describes the title of a Stanley Kubrick film:
Eyes Wide Shut
A Clockwork Orange
Full Metal Jacket
The Shining
2001: A Space Odyssy

My faith in humanity has been lowered significantly... Come on, The Shining! You've got to know The Shining, at least!
