Learning to Fly...

... But I ain’t got wings.

Horus Terkelsbøl, Link and Dunbar’s roommate in Mediocre People. He’s been a difficult character to develop, but he’s stuck around.
As a character he’s spent much of his adolescence in a perpetual state of identity crisis, unsure of his place in the world. He finds some kinship in the hipster community but is still not sure of what his fate should be. Link and Dunbar don’t entirely understand, but they still try to be there for him. When Horus joins Link, Dunbar and Ken in their band, he does start to feel like he has a place. Still, he likes to wander.

I’ve never really drawn Horus out so this was just a quick test. He’s a chronic plucker but manages to learn how to curb the impulse when he becomes a bit happier towards the end of the story. (He usually wears clothes and sleeves over his bald spots, so I guess in this drawing he’s technically naked..) I wanted him to be a Barn Owl, but I also wanted him to look sort of unique, so I thinned the feathers out. Barn Owls are honestly 60% feathers.
